After Sans gives her a name, Gokiburi-chan feels more happy, soulful, invigorated, and alive than ever. She decides she'll learn to speak so they can hold real conversations! But where to learn new words? The most convenient story is UNDERTALE as it was meant to be experienced. She RESETs the world back to zero and wakes up in a bed of golden flowers.

By nature, Goki-chan is impatient with anyone who isn't Sans. She kills indiscriminately, dusting half the RUINS on her way to him, but she always chats with her opponents first. Gotta build up her vocabulary, after all! Flowey can tell something's wrong with her— and wrong with her SOUL, too— and lays low while he figures it out. Toriel pretends not to notice how strange she is. And when she finally makes it to Snowdin, excitedly greeting Sans with their extra-special phrase, she can't understand why he's suddenly so cold with her.

Of course, "stupid cockroach" is a codeword passed across time/space from one Sans to another, basically meaning "watch out for this creepy, unkillable thing."

LMFAO i just realise the title pokes fun at Goki's costume change ehehehe...

this story is kinda complicated. it's about how goki is not a human but not a monster either, and how she struggles to fit into the underground's society and how everyone works together to sort of tame her lol. sans babysits her partly bcus of toriel's request, partly bcus she's just so weird and funny and he likes her instantly. but goki has to keep her entire past and origin story a secret, and she feels immense guilt over thoughtlessly slaughtering everyone. she still struggles with violent urges and regularly abuses her time travel powers with some good old fashioned SEPPUKU!!

why hasn't she been killed and sacrificed to break the barrier??? IDK LOL maybe bcus she's not exactly human and there's soemthing wrong with her soul. i could go into the SOUL ROT idea i had before, perhaps it was caused by the glitch that created the domestic timeline... that would at least put a time limit on sans's suffering, so in the stockholm ending he chooses to wait it out or smth idk!

and it could be a reason why mimo-chan retreats from undertale and makes up her own world, or perhaps why the world she makes is so unstable?? i'll think about it more haha

Super Self-Indulgent, Nonsensical Crossover Stories That Only I Would Like or Care About

illustration unavailable;;; i'll get to it sometime

Without spoiling the story, MIMO-CHAN'S PLAYHOUSE ends with MIMO abandoning her pocket dimension to galavant across the multiverse. And because I finally watched UNDERVERSE, I wondered how a meeting between her and fellow outcode Ink!Sans might go.

I'll be up front: I don't care about Ink outside of UNDERVERSE, and I only like UNDERVERSE because it's objectively cool. MIMO already has an endgame partner from her original story, so this isn't about her— or any Goki— hooking up with Ink. Really I'm just using theh two of them as plot devices to set up this super self-indulgent universe where all my OCs and recoloured Sanses can frolic together.

So... Ink knows all about the cosmic foodchain. He noticed Gokiburi right away 'cause she's been up to some fuckshit from the start. Watching her evolve into MIMO-chan, the first detritivore to use half-digested stories to create something brand new, positively thrilled him. When they finally meet, he manipulates— I mean, inspires her to try making a new AU. Something like her Playhouse, where all her favourite Sanses can live, but bigger. More stable. Not something held together with spit and tape, like last time.

Attempting to learn from her past failures, MIMO decides to adopt existing Sansgoki couples into the world. Rather than being the center of attention, her new plan is to be a sort of... support character and voyeur. Ink encourages this since it's similar to what he does. He insists you can have fun even without being the main character! And who knows— in the end, you might end up central to the story, anyways.

So MIMO builds herself an entire town— somewhere colourful, sunny, and unconcerned with an outside world. At its center sits an adorable school. Why a school? Well, my plan was to build an apartment complex in the Sims 4, but it was harder than I anticipated. I just kept trying random things and ended up with a school instead LOL.

Every Sansgoki pairing features in this universe. They get to interact as a group and their unique characteristics stand out more. It's all a bit Flanderising, but only in the name of fun! Basically, this is my opportunity for nonsense interactions and the usual multiverse hijinx.

Proud of her work, MIMO appoints herself as the principal and offers Ink a job as an art teacher. He says sure, why not? Sounds fun. With all these weird people boxed in together, what could possibly go wrong?

Something Happens, and Sans Remembers

illustration unavailable;;; i'll get to it sometime

This isn't actually an AU or a story or anything, more like a turning point? So I got rid of the table! Also, it's less like "remembering" and more like suddenly becoming aware of everything that happened in his other lives. Like, this Sans didn't live through them, so they're not memories, but he can see himself going through it over and over and over again, being toyed with and destroyed by his lovey-dovey tormentor.

After living out the same massacre and same quiet, dusty days on an indefinite loop, Sans and Gokiburi-chan agree they're ready for something new. Next time Goki RESETs the world, they'll let the story play out how it was always meant to: with Frisk and Asriel liberating the Underground and finally laying Chara's memory to rest. The funny thing about Sans is that he's a "useless" character. Besides a few unskippable cutscenes, you don't actually have to interact with him at all. And while his and Papyrus' brotherly antics are a hilarious introduction to Snowdin, he doesn't really need to be there, does he?

So Sans stays home. He keeps his pet cockroach calm while the world she destroyed for him is finally saved. It's a big change. For the first time in her horrific existence, Goki-chan will have to learn to tolerate other people. Both of them will have to cope with the massive loss of control that is life on the surface. As a show of commitment, on their first night under the stars, they mark each other's SOULs, consecrating an indelible bond. No more killing. No more torture. No turning back.

They're the only ones who remember all that came before. Even Flowey is clueless— though he can tell something's up with that smiley trashbags's little weirdo. No one knows where she came from. No one really remembers meeting her. She's just "that girl who's always with Sans," a strange creature not quite monster or human. No one knows how to classify her and no one bothers to try. She gets along well enough mingling among monsterkind: shy but polite, off-putting but harmless. For Sans's sake, she's on her best behaviour.

They live together in a quaint little house, wherever the other monsters have settled. I always imagined Papyrus as a world-travelling type, but whether he's off gallavanting or not, he lives there, too. Sans still hallucinates a phantom of his brother sometimes. Both he and Goki-chan slowly recover from their complex trauma and psychotic disorders. Forevermore, they'll carry the burden of their sins— harm done to others and to each other. It's not easy, but it's not a death sentence either. Sans and Goki are astonished at how happy they are in their new life.

All in all, this is the delicious, hurt/comfort-y, soulmate-ful conclusion to the DUSTTALE continuity. I set stories in this era when I want a more troubled Sans, a more mature Gokiburi, and/or a more genuinely loving partnership between the two. After everything, they are officially together! And everyone else is alive to celebrate these dorks in love.

BOKUJO MONOGATARI x UNDERTALE

Character sheet for Farmer!Goki-chan
Relationship Dynamic Story Purpose
Neighbours Unrequited Love Hanahaki Disease Bucolic Tragedy
Theme Song
"You"

Bokujo Monogatari, known in the west as Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons, is my all-time favourite video game series. As much as I love UTDR, these cute and addicting farming sims will always take first place. There is a well-recognised FARMTALE AU, but because it was made by a Korean fan (and probably based off her lived experience instead of just video games...), it just doesn't have that BOKUMONO je ne sais quoi. So this isn't FARMTALE! It's just me mashing up my favourite game series with my favourite character and some tragic fanfic tropes.

In this world, Sans fled from the city to a small farming town so his brother could grow up in a peaceful place. He owns and operates the general store where he mostly deals in imports from the city. Sometimes it's a bit of pawn shop. Sometimes it's just a place to hang out and shoot the breeze. Because of his easygoing, unpretentious, and reliable nature, he's much beloved by all the townsfolk. Over the years, they've come to accept him entirely as one of their own.

One spring, a strange girl calling herself Gokiburi moves in to take over some abandoned farmland. The town is abuzz with her arrival, but pretty much everyone is disappointed once they meet her. She's awkward, cold, and entirely too fixated on the general store shopkeep. Everybody but him gets a blank stare. Once Sans walks into the room, she lights up and attempts her best imitation of a conversation, shoving gifts at him, trying to do him favours. Everyday she skips into his shop with a basket of tomatoes she grew especially for him. Sans laughs it off and— after she's gone— apologises on her behalf. Whatever's wrong with her, he's figures she'll grow out of it.

He'd be a lot less optimistic if he knew she was already coughing up flowers.

Hanahaki Disease is a fictional illness where, when you are deeply in love with someone who doesn't return your feelings, the pain of unrequited romance manifests as flowers growing in your lungs. The species relates to the object of your affections. (In Goki's case, they're tomato flowers.) At first, the sufferer just coughs up these blossoms, feels a little sick, looks a little pitiful. But with time the disease will surely kill them. Either their beloved must genuinely return their feelings, or they need to surgically extract the flowers— and the love from which they grow.

I'm not sure if the whole "surgical intervention also removes your memories of the person" is an established detail or just something I came up with after watching Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004). Either way, I'm obsessed with it. In this story, Goki has two options: die with her love, or sacrifice her feelings to save herself. She's the sort of stubborn, self-hating person who would instantly choose to die and resist all persuasion to reconsider.

But choosing to REMEMBER is only the first possible ending. Read that one first, and then discover what happens to Sans and Goki should she make the "right" choice to FORGET.

BOKUMONOTALE: "Yes, I'd Really Rather Die."

Sans stands quietly by Gokiburi's grave.

Gokiburi loves Sans— or at least she's calling this feeling "love." And when you love someone, you'll do anything for them, won't you? Dedicate all your time, energy, and thoughts to them. Humiliate yourself with rejected gifts and rebuffed displays of affection. Ignore everyone else. Focus only on them. Ignore yourself. Remember them. Remember the way they make you feel. Cling to those memories up to your final breath. That's "love," right?

Everyone watches as Gokiburi's body and mind deterioriate, until she can no longer maintain her farm, leave her house, or even get out of bed... Some bleeding hearts, like Toriel and Papyrus, hate to see her suffer— even though she never endeared herself to anyone. She's an ungrateful little whelp who only wants to gush over Sans, always asking how he is and if maybe she could see him soon. The skeleton in question keeps his distance. He'd rather pretend like none of this is happening, because he can't ever pretend it's not his fault.

How many nights has he lied awake, begging himself to just love her? No matter how much he ruminates on her, searching for her good qualities, something to be charmed or captivated by, nothing sticks. And her stubbornness— the way she thoughtlessly hurts herself and everyone around her over a guy as mediocre as him? It's such a turn off! Silently he wages an internal war, caught between blaming himself, blaming her, blaming whatever happened in her past that made her this way. The small town gossip mill turns and turns, no matter how Sans tries to redirect it. Still, nobody blames him for becoming a bit more reclusive, even as he tries to carry on with life as though nothing is wrong.

That final summer, Goki-chan and Sans sit under a Dogwood tree and she thanks him for making her so happy. Just hearing his voice... No, just seeing his face... No! Just remembering he existed!!! That was enough for her on those days she laid paralysed in bed, barely breathing, barely alive. Sans grimaces. She says she's at peace with her passing, so don't worry about her, okay? There's an ache deep in his bones but, somehow, he can't bring himself to say anything at all.

Still Gokiburi smiles at him, coughs flowers into her cupped palms. "Maybe, in another life, I'll be reborn as your bride." She's dead within the week.

Poor Sans... He doesn't realise this is his happy ending.

what would compel goki to seek treatment? mainly sans insisting she do so, perhaps making an uncharacteristic promise in exchange. idk. goki has to act a bit out of character too, but it's typical for her to want to "be good" for sans and obey him, even when it's hard for her...

God.... and everyone keeps it secret from her. It's a small town, so everybody knows! But not ONE PERSON lets it slip, and they all watch with pity and horror as she falls in love with Sans again, and again, and again. I feel like finally Sans is the one to tell her. He was planning on keeping the secret too, because he loves to suffer all by himself, but after watching her go through it for several years he feels so much pity for her. Her life is basically ruined, her memories are all jumbled and fucked up, she feels like she's going crazy and becoming more and more mentally unstable......

So finally he tells her what's been happening to her all these years, and how he blames himself, how he can't stand to watch her suffer any longer. He hates that he can't love her, he's so sorry... Goki-chan doesn't believe him at first, but with a bit more thinking, it all makes sense. She's also sorry for all the pain Sans has endured because of her— she was hurting him so much and she didn't even know. So she decides to let the disease run its course. With her death, finally Sans will be able to move on.

What if they live out the last of her days as a couple? Sans doesn't reciprocate her feelings, but he feels like the only way he can atone for all this terribleness is to treat her kindly, to give her something to smile about as she stares down her final days.

Not-so-Imaginary Friend Forbidden Snack Requited Love Beautiful Tragedy

"Hitogawari"

HORRORTALE is a story created by Sour-Apple-Studios in early 2016. After Frisk leaves the Underground in a Neutral ending, the CORE— the magical, geothermal power plant providing all the Underground's energy— suddenly breaks down. Overnight, monsterkind loses all quality of life. With no power, everyone goes hungry, and as they starve they become increasingly insane. Humans who fall into Mt. Ebott are highly coveted meals. It's a dark and depressing story about what people do when pushed beyond their limits. If UNDERTALE's keyword was "determination," HT's is "desperation."

Here, Sans's lore is dense at best, nonsensical at worst, and completely butchered in pretty much all fan content. As I understand it he was trying to help save everyone, but his friends betrayed him, causing him extreme physical and psychological harm. Now he's got a huge hole in his skull, somebody else's magic eyeball in one socket, and a very bad attitude. I don't think he's supposed to have a full on psychotic disorder like in DUSTTALE, but he's most certainly mentally unwell, just like the rest of the HT cast.

I wish I could say more, but I've not actually read the comic. It's visually unpleasant and I just can't stand it hahaha. Maybe the games would be easier on me, but I haven't looked into them much yet either.

Anyways... HORRORTALE is exactly the kind of dead, decaying, apocalyptic, and bloodstained universe that a cosmic detritivore like Gokiburi would want to eat. What's interesting is that despite its putrid contents, its karmic presence continues to grow and expand. There's a lot of interest in this story! That energy keeps it alive, or reanimates it, or perhaps just puppets its corpse. From Goki's perspective, it's like watching a fish filet flop off the plate and tumble towards the sea. Of course she's intrigued.

Upon entering this universe, she finds it cold, dusty, and dead, just like all the others she's seen. She resonates well with this energy, and thus she has the power to walk through the world as an untouchable, invisible observer-god. She hardly notices her invisibility. Usually by the time she comes into a story, everything is already dead. It doesn't shock her at all that nobody sees her. She doesn't even attempt to interact with anything.

But one person... well, he sees her quite clearly. No one can tell you why. Maybe being a skeleton monster— a manifestation of the dead— resonates with her. Maybe his role as The Judge makes him sensitive to matters of metaphysical fate. Maybe it's that weird eyeball. Either way, he sees her. He talks to her. She startles but quickly perks up, and in an ancient, eldritch language that sends shadows licking up the walls, she responds. Huh. Weird how he knows exactly what she's trying to say.

Sans swears he's hallucinating. The girl-creature insists she's real, as all hallucinations do. He can't follow her explanation of who she is or what she's doing or why she's here, besides the part where she says she's hungry. Isn't everyone? She says she's going to eat him. He says he probably won't taste very good. She considers this, and says she'll just have a little nibble to try.

What follows: ecstasy. As Gokiburi eats a small piece of Sans's suffering, a wave of bliss washes over him. The experience is powerful, he forgets all the troubles of that day, and he laughs— really laughs— for what feels like the first time in years. He tells this angelic abomination "thanks." Gokiburi, moved by her first ever sight of a genuine smile, falls instantly in love.

And you know what? Sans comes to love her, too. He sees her as his imaginary friend, a fantasy powerful enough to put him in a totally different frame of mind. Gokiburi feasts upon his dark thoughts, savouring his memories of displacement, discouragement, depression. The more she learns about him, the closer to him she feels, the more she yearns to see him happy. When cruel reality sets him spiraling in fear and pain, he turns to her for help.

"Just take a bite. We'll both feel better."

She loves him— both the taste of his pain and his sighs of relief— so she'll never say no. It's amazing, being praised for something only she can do, being valuable, useful, really existing! But there's only so much of Sans to eat. As pleasant as it is for him to be devoured, one day there won't be a single scrap left. Does he know? If he knows, does he care? Selfishly, Goki avoids telling him. Selflessly, she tries eating slower, eating less, but can't hold back for long. There's nothing to be done about the sorrow that awaits them.

In the meantime, they have fun together: ice skating, walking in the woods, creeping around the long-abandoned CORE, telling ghost stories and jokes. For the first time in a long time, Sans feels like his old self. His spirits are high enough that he can make the best of a bad situation. Not like he's optimistic anything will change, but at least he doesn't mind being alive. With his new best friend around, it's getting harder and harder to even see the bad.

For the first time literally ever, Goki feels like she has a "self" at all. It's so rewarding, the way Sans treats her like a normal girl. Holds her hand, makes her laugh, adores her and reminds her of it ten times a day. So what if nobody else can see her? So what if they all know he's lost his mind? Before it's entirely lost, subsumed into the eldritch conglobation that is Gokichan's true form, where it will ultimately be recycled into pure, ethereal energy, they have fun. He sleeps more, talks less, can't remember anybody's names. But they have fun. Together.

To be clear, Gokiburi-chan is not an actual dog in this universe. Sans just treats her that way because he's mean and she is legitimately feral.

For all the space that this AU occupies on this page— that is, the huge ring that I'm very proud of myself for coding— I actually don't have many thoughts about the story. So here are some fun facts:

  • Sans uses Goki's mouth as an ashtray, initially as an insult but she genuinely loves the taste. He refuses to feed her his cigarette butts no matter how much she begs. If he catches her stealing her from the Actual Ashtray, to the doghouse she goes.
  • The doghouse was intially a punishment for Snowdin's Canine Unit but since Goki killed them all, she's the only around to use it. Sans defaults to it because it's familiar (and he can only kick the shit out of her so many times before he gets tired).
  • Underfell Sans is known for being extra exhausted, therefore extra cranky. Typically Goki is quiet around others due to sheer boredom, but in Underfell she's actively territorial and possessive. She bites!

"My Strange Addiction"

I don't actually know what the fuck Outspare is about. All I know is that the music goes hard, and Sans snapping his fingers makes me go feral.

Unlike my other fangame crush, Green Sans, my attraction to OutSpare Sans is purely physical. After all, he doesn't have much of a personality to latch on to. OutSpare falls into a common fangame trap wherein Sans's dialogue follows his canon monologue beat for beat, with only some minor tweaks. As such, it's hard to say for sure how this Sans is different from any other, despite being stronger and much, much edgier.

I do love his edginess though, ugh, the jacket with the fur-trimmed hood is sooo sexy on him. I want to sit in his lap and worm my way inside of it. But Goki in this AU is not a worm— she's a fungus!!! The sickly green colour and dilapidated look of Outspare always made me think of mushrooms for some reason, so I decided to run with it.

Instead of antennae, she's got a pair of (shrooms) growing from her head, and creepy/cute spiral eyes to signify her submission to the craziness that drives her inexorably closer to Sans. She's also mostly naked... I'm sure you can guess why.

Anyways, her outfit is supposed to be sporty, edgy, and cute all at once. Her signature piece is definitely the two tone sweat jacket. The high collar obscures her face, the long sleeves envelope her hands, and the baggy fit + cropped fit w/ cinched waist make her look very tiny and cute! Instead of a proper zipper, she gets the seifuku style bowknot that's missing from her classic design. It gives her otherwise boyish outfit a nice feminine twist.

Kinokogoki harasses a bemused Outspare!Sans

So, mushroom!Goki is here to kill Sans, fight him, fuck him... all three! And, using a personality I made up for him myself, Outspare Sans is not interested in any of this... except the fighting, I guess, but he intends to win.

Underswap

illustration unavailable;;; i'll get to it sometime

Underswap is a simple personality- & role-swap AU where thematically paired characters (e.g. the skelebros) take on the other's temparament, goals, and style of dress. It was one of the first AUs created for Undertale, published just one month after release. The new versions of both Sans (Blue) and Papyrus (Stretch) remain popular to this day.

Let me start by saying I am not a fan of Blue's typical characterisation. People tend to give him the cliche and watered-down version of Papyrus' fanon personality, then wrap it all up in a tiny uguu super cutesy wittle blueberry ball of sunshine! Mweh heh heh!

Nothing wrong with that, everyone is entitled to fun in their own harmless ways... but I can't get it up for a Sans like that. I refuse to compete to be "the cute one" in the relationship. It's just not happening! For that reason, I avoided Underswap content for a long time.

Then I stumbled upon a drawing of Blue where instead of looking cute, he looks fucking deranged, and I was immediately like, "ooh, sign me the fuck up." Since then I've been more willing to look at Underswap stuff, and even found a fanfiction where Blue was just... perfect....││ I will not link it here, first of all, because it's sexually explicit, and secondly because it was only the springboard for my personal characterisation.

That's right. I have totally reinterpreted Underswap, just to make Blue more appealing to me, and there are a lot of changes.... Let's get started explaining them all!

Deltarune... Sorta. I Guess.

soriel is so fucking good in deltarune, i almost dont want to intrude but i do think it'd be fun to put Sans in an uncomfortable position where he has to figure out how to gently reject goki in order to prove to toriel that he's like normal and responsible and a good guy....

If you know me, you know I love Madoka Magica! I will be spoiling the lore for the whole series, so I recommend watching the original 11-episode anime and movie Rebellion first. (There aren't any Rebellion spoilers here, I just love that film to death.)

This story is set in the Madoka universe— maybe or maybe not Mitakihara city, doens't really matter. What's most important is that UNDERTALE is just a video game and Sans is just a fictional character. Gokiburi-chan is a normal human girl who fantasises about him for her own comfort. She has a Sans plushie whom she talks to, cuddles with, and generally adores.

Being a normal human girl, Goki should have a normal human name, but we will never know what it is. The other kids nicknamed her "cockroach" because she came to school with a moldy lunch and ate it anyway. She can't even argue that that wasn't objectively gross, but she was just so hungry! All her troubles at home make it hard to get along outside of it. She was excited to enter middle school with a fresh start, but her reputation as someone dirty and weird makes her easy to bully and avoid.

One night, when she's crying to Sans for comfort, she sighs into his little polyester head that everything would be alright if only he were real. If only he could respond to her. If only he could say, "I love you, too." She'd give anything to hear from him.

A strange voice asks, "is that really true?" She startles, then freezes at the sight of a cat-like creature perched on her window. "Would you even give your very soul?"

Right away, Kyuubey grants Goki's wish to "talk with Sans, really talk to him! Make him real!" She was imagining him appearing in her room, life-sized and fully alive, ready to hold her and love her and protect her from everything.

In reality, the wish only animates her plushie. Sans can talk, hear and see what's happening around him, and maybe move a little bit like Maromi from Paranoia Agent (2004). Goki is immediately disappointed, but when Kyuubey asks, "don't you love him? Shouldn't this be enough?" she embraces Sans, thanks her contractor, and swears that Gokichama will be the greatest magical girl ever seen!

Does Sans have faux-memories of his story in UNDERTALE, or only memories of being a plushie? I'm not sure. The idea of Sans getting isekai'd again, this time into a fangirl's plushie, is both hilarious and horrifying. I also like the idea of him only being a toy with no idea who he's "supposed to be," forced to bluff his way through everything to meet his owner's expectationts. Both are their own kind of identity crisis. Either way, Sans is freaked out by the nature of his existence, but he's rolling with the punches like he always does. He immediately suspects Kyuubey is a bad actor and that this situation is unsustainable, but he's a stuffed animal, for crying out loud! What can he do to help?

Gokiburi starts sneaking out at night to hunt witches. She has a natural knack for combat and gives her all in every battle. Being a magical girl, fighting for her life, fighting for Sans's life... It's the most powerful she's ever felt. Gokichama is her evolved form, a version of herself who cannot be mistreated by anyone, who defends humanity even when no one thanks her for it, and looks cool as hell even when no one is around to see it. At least Sans tells her she's cool! Hehehe. She's convinced that she couldn't make it in "real life" because she was always meant to be a magical girl. Kyuubey doesn't tell her he does this with every pubescent girl.

Sans is just glad she's proud of herself. He realises pretty quickly that he has been Goki's only friend in her entire life. Fantasising about him— and now holding real conversations with him— are her only comforts in a world that constantly rejects and traumatises her. He does his best to live up to her ideals, even as her infatuation overwhelms him, but pushes her to make human friends all the same. As part of her promise to "work hard and become someone he can love," Goki agrees to give it a try. She brings Sans to school to support her, now that he can speak up to defend her from bullies.

But all anybody else sees is a regular old plushie— a super dorky one at that. (I still think UNDERTALE would be widely beloved, but it'd have a bad reputation specifically with these kids for its assocation with the "cockroach," haha.) They make fun of her obsessive interest, bring up other weird things she's done in the past, and even snatch Sans away from her to throw him around the room. Time slows down. Did nothing change after all? Was none of it real? But Gokiburi remembers her blood pumping as she battled witches. She remembers the pleasant ache after another night of violence. Isn't she Gokichama now? Gokichama would never stand for this.

So... it's bad. There's blood. Parents are called and Goki is in the worst trouble of her life. Her mom and dad throw Sans— and the rest of her belongings— in the trash. Maybe if she starts acting right, she can earn them back. For now, they leave her to cry herself to sleep on the floor of her totally empty bedroom.

When she wakes up, it's dark. She digs through the trash for Sans, cries hot tears of relief when she finds out he's okay. Before he can get a word in, she announces that they're going to run away. Gokichama doesn't need friends, family, or a house to live in. "Where are you gonna sleep? What are you gonna eat?" he asks as they wander the rain-slick city streets. She only smiles and tells him it's fine. She's choosing to only need him from now on.

This works surprisingly well because a magical girl's human body is only a shell, anyways. Its basic needs can be fulfilled with magic. As long as she keeps defeating witches and collecting grief seeds, she'll stay alive. Gokiburi dedicates herself to the hunt full-time, taking out all her frustration and shame on her enemies. Despite the brave expression she wears, inside she's miserable, she's exhausted, she can't shake the feeling that no one wants her alive. Even with Sans supporting her as best as he can, it's turning out just as he suspected. Eventually, she's going to make the wrong move... and...

Goki waits for Sans to praise her for defeating a witch that nearly bested her, but he's quiet. She reaches for him and finds his little polyester body slashed open, spilling red stuffing. She collapses. Kyuubey appears and Goki is already screaming— "help me! Fix him!"

To be honest, I developed this story with Flans in mind, not Sansgoki, so that's why it's so fluffy and trite (and written in the first person). If Goki-chan really is the heroine, then we should add an extra layer of unreality and suffering by setting the story in a 4th-wall-breaking dating sim or something.

Sans is a third year excited to take his last semester easy, but girls are confessing to him twice as frantically now that their time is running out. He asks me (his childhood friend) to be his fake gf, promising its only for a few months and it wont take too much work... I accept, happy to do a favour for my crush.

We do all these theatrical and hilarious public displays of commitment and affection. Lots of "couples do this, right? So we should do it too." Going to each other's classrooms, holding hands in public, sharing an umbrella... They increase in intensity as rumours fly. So many girls are unwilling to give up on Sans and dont understand why he chose me when I'm "clearly not worthy of him."

There's a bullying arc where I try to hide the mistreatment, but Sans finds out and protects me. He scolds the girls who hurt me by saying he'd never want to be with anyone so cruel. But bcus he does it in that cold, scary, glowing eye way, when the girls tell this story nobody believes them 😂 So that particular group is "defeated" but everyone else is still vying for his attention

All the while, we're both mutually pining and trying to navigate the intense doki dokis of our increased intimacy. Sans slips his sincere feelings into the "game" and I'm just like "wow haha you're a really great actor!" While he's relieved to keep his secrets another day, he also wishes I could see through him... the way he sees through me. He's known for years that I genuinely love him and he feels guilty for taking advantage of my pure heart. Does a guy as duplicitous as him even deserve me?

He breaks up our "fake rlship." I don't understand, the semester isn't over, I thought I had more time!!! I blow up and demand that HE fake date ME! Not to keep guys away, but because it felt so good being close to him. We flashback-montage through all the story moments... I cry because for me, it was all real...

Sans hugs me. He says sorry, he sucks at 'feelings talk' so can he just show me the truth? We share our first kiss... I can tell just from the way he looks at me that he really loves me, too.

My first daydreams EVER were set in the Pokémon world! I don't keep up with the franchise much at all anymore, but it will always be special to me. I can think of at least a dozen 'mons that suit Sans, casually and competetively, and maybe I'll ramble about that sometime. But this story isn't about catching 'em all or being the best.

Sans is just a normal guy living a quiet life on 'Ula'ula island when, one night, he hears something digging through his trash. It's loud but he decides to ignore it. He can deal with it tomorrow, y'know? But the ruckus gets louder— there's a huge bang! And then he swears somebody starts to cry. If it's a person, not just a pokémon, then he should probably check it out.

Filthy, starving, and scared out of her mind— that's how he meets this strange girl he'll one day call Gokiburi-chan.

Unbeknownst to him, she is a Mimikyu who somehow became a human. Think Pokémon Mystery Dungeon in reverse. But rather than striving to return to her original form, she's desperate to make it in the human world. Normally, Mimikyu can't be looked at. If you see the shadowy body hiding under its disguise, you'll immediately fall ill and die. Mimikyu hates this and feels very insecure because it only wants to make friends!!! So this particular specimen is thrilled to wake up changed.

She keeps to the shadows and only moves at night, just to be safe. But she doesn't know how to live in a human body— how to sleep, what to eat. She befriends a lonely Whimpod who seems to sense she's not fully human and they wander the island together. At first it flees when Sans appears, and Goki cowers, trying to hide her face, too sick to run. Sans is telling himself, "nope, nope, don't get involved!" but his body practically moves on its own. He's scooped her up and brought her inside before he knows it.

And so it goes. Sans and his brother look after their mysterious new charge, who follows after him like a little duckling, insistent on going everywhere he goes. I wonder if he'd have a job as an astrophysicist at the observatory on Mount Hokulani? I could see him having a happy life with a profession like that. Every week he tosses Goki a few pokédollars, which she invariably spends on Pikachu-themed toys and accessories. Yeah... I just want them to have a happy little life.

For clarity's sake, here's a list of which 'mons belong to which person:

Sans: Gengar, Shedinja, Minior, Quagsire, Snorlax

Goki: Whimpod, Flygon, Woobat, Gulpin, and an Alolan Exeggutor that follows her around even though it lowkey scares her

The skeleton brothers are so close, they probably have some kind of family enmeshment problem. It's hard to get one-on-one time. You're guaranteed a role as the third wheel. And if you want to be the most important person in his life? Just forget it! Their dear brother will always take priority. But... at the very least...

Maybe they can be distracted?!

My friends and I have always liked crossing over our "yoomiverses" so that our husbandos know each other and we can all interact. Goofy hijinks abound! Usually it's me in the story, though— not Goki-chan— and we're never in the UTDR-verse, so they don't really belong on this page. But Nono is a true and honest Papyrus wife! And we just love UNDERTALE so much!!! Since both Beru and Goki have "unrequited love" problems, I thought it would be hilarious for our OCs to team up and help the other in her love quest. She immediately agreed.

So they're friends now!

Crack AU be damned... it warms my heart, hehe.
