Reminds you of your husbando
I first heard "Somewhere" by Hauskey while sifting through the clearance rack in a department store. I proceeded to listen to it (and literally nothing else) on loop for the next two weeks.
It instantly reminded me of Sans because it's about feeling trapped and wanting an escape. It's melancholic yet upbeat, lonely yet dreamy— the duality suits him. The vague idea of "somewhere in the distance" is just so Sanscore. Anywhere but here, right? Also "I just wanna ditch all this and leave" is very in character for him. Mans literally teleports away when he doesn't feel like dealing with something.
But in reality, Sans is TOO RESPONSIBLE to totally give up on his family and friends. Of course he will long for things to be easier. He's always going to grieve the life he left behind... or... lost? "Left behind" implies a willingness that I can't actually fathom. I think he sees himself as someone who's hopeless and not doing anything, but I dunno... Sans does a lot to support his loved ones and keep himself afloat. However we meet, I want to give him the bliss he thinks he can only get from "somewhere in the distance."
Reminds you of your self-insert
Though it only halfway describes me, the #1 Goki-chan anthem is "You're In Love With a Psycho" by Kasabian.
If you want to listen to the Goki playlist I put together, check out her character page! ☆
Reminds you of your relationship
Sans doesn't always know how to say what he feels, so he burns me J-funk CDs with songs like "Torie" by Billyrrom to get the message across.
I don't actually speak Japanese though, so he gets to tell me without telling me...? I dunno, I'll let him be weird and indirect and kuudere, as a treat. Still, the lovey-dovey mood comes across, and I can definitely hear that guy singing, "I WANNA BE WITH YOU, YOU'RE MINE!" Hehehe... We listen while we drive around or have picnics. He lets me decorate the CDs and make little "cases" out of paper. He makes notes of all my favourite songs and, at the end of the year, burns a new CD with all our greatest hits │ Ah, I love being spoiled by him.
Describes the first time you met
If we're soulmates, then it must be "Stray Italian Greyhound" by Vienna Teng: a song about new love that calls everything into question.
I mentioned "soulmates" because the question is about our first meeting and I do like the idea of love at first sight. It works just as well for any moment of realisation, though, whether it's immediate or after getting to know each other... Both of us have been reasonably pessimistic, considering our troubled histories, so when we fall in love it's totally unexpected. We're scared and insecure, and feel unprepared for whatever comes next.
The thing about "Stray Italian Greyhound" is that its lovers lean into uncertainty. We dare to take the chance. I think it's both an act of courage and a succumbing to this magnificient love. How could we possibly fight it? It's "everything that I am..."
Plays while you're cooking together
I love listening to the Ivy League album while cooking. "Sunny" is one of my favourite tracks, probably because it's the one that sounds most like Sans!
This jazzy, bossa nova style is perfect for our daily life. It's both cute and refined, laid back but full of life... The horn riff often gets stuck in my head and it is very satisfying to hum. We'll put this music on as we hustle into the kitchen to make dinner. Yes, WE! I'm making Sans my sous chef!
He helps me into my apron, manoeuvring the neck strap over my massive fluff of hair. Then he ties a little bow at the back, right at my waist, and slaps my ass for the trouble lol. After that, he's mostly around to fetch me utensils and ingredients and clean up behind me. I'll have him stir the food and taste it, and he'll pat my head while he tells me how good I'm doing... I guess he's more like moral support than a sous chef, hahaha.
One time I was listening to this album while cooking sweet potatoes. I had to chop most of them clean in half, which for me was a real test of strength. It got easier when I imagined Sans helping out with his gravity magic. After watching me line up the knife and curl my fingers out of the way, he asked, "ready?" Then slammed the cleaver down into the cutting board.
Makes you want to dance with him
The perfectly named "Comics" by Caravan Palace: a jaunty and mysterious tune that evokes the duality at the heart of my beloved Sans.
I would love to dance to any Caravan Palace song! I just chose this one because it reminds me the most of him. And yes I do think Sans can dance... I guess we have canon evidence now with DELTARUNE chapter 4, but even before that I was convinced that Sans has got the schmooves. As a musician I've got rhythm too, but I don't feel at home in my body. I don't really know how to move... Everything will be fine as long as I follow Sans's lead. He'll twirl me around and teach me little tricks and encourage me the whole way through. We'll laugh until I don't have any breath to waste on feeling insecure or unsure. Oh, I love him, I love him...
Sounds like your first night spent in the same bed
Honestly Lamp's entire Dusk to Dawn album fits, but let's just pick the first track, "Dusk." The song that plays right after, "Last Dance," is really good, too!
I love how tranquil and bittersweet these songs are. It really feels like flopping into bed together after a long, long day of fun. I scoot in closer. He smooths back my hair. I want to cuddle with him all night, getting pets and little kisses, feeling so warm and safe. Sans will enjoy feeling my breathing and my heart rate slow, and once he's sure I'm asleep he'll feel ready to drift off, too.
Would be his lullaby to you
I have a lot of songs I listen to at bedtime, but my favourite— and the easist for Sans to hum to me— is "Wizard's House" from Harvest Moon: Animal Parade.
I love, love, love AniPara and Sans would know it! He knows everything about me, after all... He's paying such close attention. So he knows that the Wizard is my favourite character and the song that plays in his house instantly calms me. I want him to hug me from behind and rub my tummy while he hums it... Yeah, I almost fell asleep just thinking about it.
Would be your lullaby to him
I got obsessed with the Ella & Louis album around the same time I played UNDERTALE, but I only just realised that "They Can't Take That Away From Me" is a bonafied Sans song.
It's a song about remaining optimistic in the face of separation and grief. "Though we may never, never meet again ... Still I'll always, always keep the memory of" you. Your memories are the one thing no one can steal from you... right? Hahahaha. For Sans, this would make for a bittersweet lullaby. That said, I think he's the kind of guy who only struggles to sleep if he's particularly sad or frightened. Rather than singing him a super happy song that tries to overwrite his pain, we'll gently connect with his melancholy.
One-sided pining
While "Passenger Seat" by Death Cab for Cutie would be sung from my perspective, the overall vibe suits a situation where Sans realises his feelings for me before I do.
This song used to be me pining for Sans, who only liked me as a friend, but I no longer subscribe to the one-sided Flans dynamic!!! There is no version of our story where he doesn't love me. Now this song represents my era of obliviousness, when I didn't recognise or accept my romantic feelings. Of course Sans saw right through me. I was down bad! And he liked me just as much and in all the same ways, too. But he wasn't going to push me when I clearly wasn't ready.
So "Passenger Seat" is all about us settling into our easy, comfy dynamic, sharing sweet and intimate moments with just us two... platonically. Hahaha. There's also the stargazing motif, which I love! I bet he took me out to see the shooting stars, and this song is about us going home after our not-date.
Mutual pining
Ahh, the era when Sans and I first got back together... No song can capture every complication of our situation, but Sade's "Is It A Crime?" beautifully represents our mixed emotions.
Sans loved me from the beginning, but kept his distance out of respect. Secretly I loved him, too, but couldn't admit it to myself. Years passed. A chance encounter brought us back into proximity. Tentatively, we felt our way back into a relationship. We poured into each other, but I couldn't believe in Sans's sincerity, and he worried his patience would never pay off. It's silly, isn't it? Both of us deeply in love, the fullness of it blocked by my unhealthy self-esteem. The sarcastic yet sincere question— "is it a crime that I still want you, and I want you to want me too?"— answers itself.
Saying what you wish you could tell him
Well, I can tell my Sans anything I want, whenever I want... but if I could somehow make contact with the Platonic Ideal of Sans only through song, I would send him "Call Me When You Get This" by Corinne Bailey Rae.
First of all... calling and leaving messages is just so fitting for Sans and the Anomaly (me). I could just as well see Sans, having fallen for me, using this song to express his feelings for me, too. Anyways, the crux of this question is wishing I could tell him something, but not being able because... well. He's not real. And I'm okay with tha., I'm okay with just leaving a message, because the love we share is real enough for me.
Falling in love has made me evolve in ways I never imagined. I leaned into the yumejoshi lifestyle because I wanted to learn to comfort myself. I had no idea that it would be so satisfying, that I'd feel so happy and complete, that I'd become so creative and devoted and determined. "I just wanted to know what it was like to be loved..." Well, hehehe, I have found out.
Remembering when you first found your husbando
Oh God, I'm so nostalgic for "A Date With Demise," insaneintherain's jazz arrangement of the iconic "It's Raining Somewhere Else." I still listen to it all the time!
There is a large gap between when I met Sans and when I realised he was the love of my life. I chose this song because, even though I didn't come to appreciate this particular cover until we reconnected, I have always, always loved "It's Raining Somewhere Else" and the dinner-with-Sans scene. I know that's the scene that solidified my interest in him, all those years ago... I'm sure a lot of people, whether or not they love him like I do, can say the same. It's just such a good scene!!!! Ugh!!!
Miscellaneous daydreaming
"Saltwater Room" by Owl City is the OFFICIAL Flans theme!!! A beautiful night sky glittering over deep black waves— this image captures the essence of our relationship.
I'm the sea. I'm the waves rolling over your feet, the tireless tide, bottomless in its majesty. Sans is the stars. He's the glimmer overhead, specs of light in a dark void, eons dead but beautiful still. These parallel, equally infinite worlds meet at the horizon, but it's only the illusion of touch. As much as we long for each other, we can never be together. We're separated by a boundary that none can cross.
But just for tonight... just for tonight, we can pretend. We can walk side by side, hand in hand, talking, laughing, marveling at the beauty of the moment— the undeniable truth of our connection. Sure, it's imaginary, but we wouldn't trade it for the world. There's nothing more romantic than stargazing on the beach with Sans. I love him... I love him so, so, so very much.

Songs I'm Fucking Sans Undertale To
"Silence. Introspection." by Saknol
This is literally the sexiest song I have ever heard in my entire life. Everyone I show it to agrees that yes, it is pure sex. I have a whole animatic in my head that plays to this song... Hint: when the overdrive guitar comes in, he ███████ ███ █████ ███████.
"Savior" by st. vincent
No matter how it may seem, I'm the one in control here. Sans is a toy for me to play with!!! This song perfectly evokes his feelings of awkwardness and acquiesence as he plays along with whatever I want from him.
"Obsession" by OK Go
The meaning is pretty obvious here. I'm obsessed with him. It's instant, it's intense, and I need him now!!! Wouldn't it be nice if he felt the same way about me...? I think he'd be much better at hiding it, heh.
"Heavy" by POWERS
I discovered this song right around the time I got back together with Sans. It perfectly embodies how I felt about him then and now: how my love for him is so overwhelming, I couldn't hold back if I tried. And of course the lyric "it's down to my bones" is a perfect fit!
"Begin Again" by Purity Ring
I dunno what to say, I just really like Purity Ring... The entire Another Eternity album is amazing and this love song instantly made me think of Sans. The passion, the partnership, the repetition, it's just perfect.
"Cbat" by Hudson Mohawke
If you know, you know.
... For those who don't know, allow me to explain LOL. Basically there was some Reddit story about a guy trying to have sex to the beat of a song and it wasn't going well so he asked for advice. People asked him what song it was and he introduced the world to "Cbat." Listen for yourself: it's terrible!!!! So that became an inside joke among my friends. We talk about Sans sneaking it onto my sex playlist as a prank. He might take the joke so far that he conditions me to... y'know, really like this song in the end. And then he'll never let me live it down ┌
